Commissioned by the Metro Tunnel, Artefacts is a public-facing digital heritage experience that brings Melbourne's subterranean history to the surface.

Institutional commissions for cultural heritage demand more than technical capability — they require archaeological sensitivity, stakeholder trust, and production discipline that survives public scrutiny. Artefacts demonstrates all three. This project showcases our capacity to deliver digital twin environments, interactive WebGL experiences, and reality-capture pipelines in service of public institutions preserving history with integrity.

We managed the end-to-end production of historically accurate digital twins, transforming physical archaeological finds uncovered during the Metro Tunnel excavations into fully interactive 3D assets. Every object was captured using high-precision reality capture equipment, then processed into browser-native WebGL experiences that the public could explore from anywhere in the world.

This project required not just technical excellence but strict stakeholder management, meticulous data security protocols, and a deep understanding of archaeological sensitivity — delivering an experience that honoured both the history and the community it belonged to.

The Studio Value: We offer this same level of precision to brands and institutions looking to digitise their products, collections, or environments — creating virtual showrooms and heritage archives that are both technically flawless and genuinely beautiful to navigate.
